SUMMARY: Provide services in Electrical engineering in design of electrical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings. Responsible for project cycle to include schematic and detailed design, development and completion by performing the following duties personally or through others employees involved with the project.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the Department Vice President or the Director of Engineering.

• Adheres to the CTS Project Management Plan and ensures all who work on assigned projects adhere to the plan;
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, prepare or direct preparation of specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, construction schedules, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
• Meets with client, owner, and/or manufacturer’s representatives periodically to coordinate changes, inform client of additional requirements, receive input from the client, answer client questions, and resolve issues;
• Prepares operational and regulatory records and reports as required by company policy and regulatory agencies and ensures all are submitted to meet deadline;
• Coordinates project activity with appropriate officials, support staff, subcontractors, labs, and other entities;
• Inspects construction site to monitor progress, conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction standards;
• Attends meetings such as City Council meetings, Planning Commission meetings, and inspection meetings to provide/receive information on projects and local requirements;
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents;
• Conducts technical training sessions or arranges for in-house seminars;
• Maintains archives of completed projects, plans and specifications;
• Keeps abreast of changing techniques, materials, codes, regulations and software through attendance at seminars, briefings and other forums and maintains professional certification;
• Makes marketing calls to existing and potential customers and assists in the company marketing effort.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain client relationships
• Market services to architects, building owners and contractors
• Develop engineering fee proposals and cost of construction budget estimate proposals
• Manage Electrical Production Staff
• Manage Project throughout all phases of design, construction, and warranty period, managing staff, resources, and applicable bill group(s) while striving to maintain project budget and profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; and 3-6 years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be certified as a Professional Engineer, (PE). Must be licensed PE in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri or Kansas and be able to obtain license in other states as needed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebraic functions and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software, Heating/Cooling Load programs and Energy Analysis software, Internet software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software and any other software necessary to perform the job successfully.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid driver license and be able to travel up to 40% of the time.

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Must hold a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in OK or AR and be able to obtain additional licenses as required.
Must have 3-5 years of project management experience in building electrical systems.
Must possess a valid drivers license.
